Sounds like the 35th Annual Shrine Bowl was a dandy! Because I had been scheduled well in advance to entertain at a wedding, I couldn't make it to Casper for the big game and festivities. I'll make sure I have the date open for next year.
My pals John Gabrielsen and Jarrad Anderson did a great job covering the game and their pics and story are on WyoPreps.com - click here to check it out!

There's a new audio page in the "Multi-Media" drop-down listings that contains a pair of interviews with head coaches, Michael McGuire and Shawn Rogers. It was a pleasure to interview the coaches, and an honor to have the experience of the visit to the Shriner's Hospital in Salt Lake City.

Outside of player bios that can be submitted at anytime (and a few profiles for coaches, trainers, managers, etc.) the directory is complete for 2008. Check it out under the drop-down list under game history.
Some pics from Monday's Shriner's Hospital visit are included under the multi-media drop-down. Check 'em out!

I took some shots of both teams practicing in Evanston today, although they're not too good, as they are too far away, especially the South, (although it will give you an overview as to where the teams are). The South is practicing at Red Devil field, while the North is utilizing the the EHS Practice Field. I also shot some video of both from closer range that I will try to add as time allows.
Excited to board the bus with the players, coaches and Shrine Bowl staff for the Shriner's Hospital visit tomorrow and should have a few shots to post. TJ will take the video I will shoot back to Casper to be edited and compiled for viewing at Friday night's banquet.
To see the shots taken today, rest your mouse over the Multi-Media button, click on photos and scroll to below the photo gallery. Thanks!

Some interesting breakdowns in the Series History - rest your mouse over the Game History button above and click on "Series Scores" to check 'em out.
Could the Wyoming Shrine Bowl be any closer?

There's a new video under the multi-media button, (rest your mouse on multi-medai and select video from the drop-down list) that features the 2006 Hospital Visit. Check it out!

I also loaded a little smaller version below the original, with lower video quality settings, (read post below) but it was still sluggish on my eMac - would appreciate your feedback.!

There's a new video on the video page, found under the multi-media heading. There is also a news article requesting your feedback on if, or or how well you were able to view the video. Post your experience here or send me an email - linked on the video page, as well. Thanks!
TJ sent me a bunch of great pictures and once I have the opportunity to scan and edit, we'll have some posted.your digital photos can be added lickety-split!

We will have some videos posted under multi-media in the near future. Most will involve the hospital visits. We could sure use your pictures of anything related to the Shrine Bowl, as we have room to post a ton of 'em.
As I continue to add to the directory, (1979, 2007 & 2008 now posted) I'd really like to include more information, or you can by either posting to the directory yourself or emailing the information to me. Check it out and look at the listings for Brad Baumberger or Lance Deal from '79 to see what is possible. Feel free to include a bio, pics, (maybe one from now and one from "then") and links to websites, (personal, school or team).
It's more than a "Where Are The Now" because it will be a very positive look at the success in life that many who played in the Shrine Bowl enjoyed or are now enjoying, and serves to inspire future athletes, cheerleaders, trainers, managers and coaches to be a part of the rich history that is the Wyoming Shrine Bowl.
We would like to showcase a profile for anyone who has ever participated in the Wyoming Shrine Bowl, so again feel free add your own, including pictures. Find the Directory under the Game History drop-down list and click add a record or simply send your information to markmadia@yahoo.com Do it for yourself or someone you know who has taken part.
One final thing in this rambling post, under the category "other" is where we distinguish what role an individual is categorized, Coach, Manager, Official, Trainer, etc. For Players, it's just that, but I'd much rather have that listed by position, Quarterback, Linebacker, etc., but often times the rosters didn't display that information. Jersey numbers worn can help in that determination, but I don't want to try and guess and be wrong. I also realize some may not have played their high school position in the Shrine Bowl. My old friend Brad Baumberger I'm sure played QB, for instance, but his Shrine Bowl jersey number reflects that of a Tight End!
Thanks for reading and thanks in advance for your participation!

I wasn't selected to the Shrine Bowl, but I've had a nephew play and my brother was fortunate to be assistant coach twice and head coach in 2007... Wyoming seems to get little respect in the high school football community, perhaps now Wyoming athletes will get more recognition. Great job!

Maybe the coolest feature of this site will be....The Directory under Game History. Check it out! When you see the search box, type in Lance Deal. Obviously, not everyone will have the illustrious athletic career that Lance Deal had and continues to have as a coach, but that should give an idea of what is being strived for in the rich history of the Shrine Bowl, it's player, coaches, managers, trainers and cheerleaders. Everyone who played a part in the Shrine Bowls of the past could have their own profile, and you're encouraged to submit your own through the directory or by emailing the information to me. It's kind of a "Where Are They Now" listing, which I believe could be fascinating. It connects the past with the present and the future, so please consider adding your information - maybe include a picture from your participation in the Shrine Bowl and a current shot. Feel free to do this on behalf of someone you know - a relative or teammate for instance. Please try to ensure that the information is accurate.
I began the directory with information from the 1979 Shrine Bowl, as that was my senior year and I had a couple of teammates and college buddies who played in the '79 game. Every player, coach, trainer, etc. is listed, but there are only a few with additional information or pictures. This is where your assistance and participation would be invaluable. If it's easier to simply email a brief write-up and or a pic or two, please feel free to do just that! My email is contained in this post, but in case you miss it, it's markmadia@yahoo.com.
Thanks for your support!

This is the beginning of an online presence for the Wyoming Shrine Bowl. Feel free to leave your comments, questions or suggestions as to what you'd like to see here. Some of the buttons above are direct links to pages, while others have drop-down lists. Rest your mouse over a button to determine what that category or link contains. If you played or coached in one of the games of the past, share your memories under "shrine Bowl Memories" found under the "Game History" button. If you have digital phots you would like to share, send them to markmadia@yahoo.com for the time being. We'll have an official email address in the future. Thanks for checking in and again, feel free to share anything Shrine Bowl related. The hope is to see this website grow to become a comprehensive resource for the Wyoming Shrine Bowl, past, present & future.
