Rosters for the 2012 Shrine Bowl game are now listed under the drop down 2012 on the home page.

The head coaches for the 2012 annual Shrine Bowl game have been announced. The South will be coached by Chad Goff from Cheyenne East and the North by Jim Stringer of Powell. These two coaches will now start the process of selecting their coaching staffs and the players for the game.

The Wyoming Shrine Bowl Board Of Directors announced that they are making a donation of $32,000 to the Salt Lake City Shrine Hospital for children. This money is the proceeds from the Wlyoming Shrine Bowl football game played June 11, 2011 in Casper WY.

There has been changes to both teams rosters and the current rosters are now posted on this web page. Look under the drop down tab for 2011.

Head coach of the 2011 South Shrine Bowl team, Pat Fackrell of Evanston, announced his staff for the game to be played in Casper June 11, 2011.
Joining Fackrell will be Scott Schultz of Wheatland high school, Ted Holmstrom of Lyman high school, Matt VandeBossche of Lusk high school, Michael Bates of Little Snake River high school and Larry Wagstaff of Evanston high school.

Head coach of the 2011 North Shrine Bowl team, John Cundall of Greybull High School, announced his coaching staff today for the 2011 all star game. Joining coach Cundall is Vic Wilkerson of Campbell County High School in Gillette, Pat Lynch of Buffalo High School, Jeff Sukut of Greybull High School, David Trembly of Dubois High School and Dustin Sipe of Kaycee High School.

Head coaches for the 2011 Wyoming Shrine Bowl to be played in Casper on June 11, 2011 have been announced.

Pat Fackrell of Evanston will be the head coach for the South team and John Cundall of Greybull will be the head coach for the North. These two coaches are now in the process of selecting their assistant coaches for the game and they will then select their players.

The two two rosters are expected to be completed by the end of January.

In looking at the Wyoming Shrine Bowl web page you will note the layout has been changed and the pictures of the 2010 participants are now shown. Also under the tab multi-media you can click on video and see the visit to the Shrine Intermountain Hospital in Salt Lake City. Under the selection process tab the selection process for coaches has been ammended in the last paragraph.

Wes Padilla who received Most Valuable Offensive Player of the game, hurt his shoulder in the first part of the game and completed the whole game with a torn Lebrum. He signed to pay baseball for Northeaster Junior College in Sterling, Colorado, he went to the Dr. and had an MRI to find out the torn Lebrum had to be repaired, he had surgery on Monday, August 30, 2010 for the repair and will be able to start throwing a ball around January 2011.

The Shrine Bowl Board Of Directors announced that there is a $15,000 check being presented to the Shrine Intermountaion Hospital in Salt Lake City, UT. whcich is the proceeds of the 2010 all star football game that was played in Casper on June 12th.

The Board also set the date of June 11, 2011 for next years game that will again be held in Casper.

The Board Of Directors would like to thank everyone who helped make the 2010 game a success and encourages everyone to set their calendars for the 2011 game.

1st Quarter:
Alan Sisel of Gillette (North) fumbles on the third play of the game.

SOUTH: #7 Colter Rood (Green River) from the South kicks a 34 yard field goal. South leads 3-0.

NORTH: #9 Alan Sisel (Gillette) hits #1 Taylor Villegas (Natrona) on a 33 yard pass. PAT good. 7-3 North with 10:43 left in the first.

SOUTH: Rood (GR) adds a 24 yard field goal. 7-6 North with 5:21 left to play in the first.

NORTH: #21 Cody Smith (Worland) 22 yard run. PAT by Matt Frost (Cody) 14-6 North with 3:29 left in the first.

2nd Quarter:

Wind River's Doug Jordan picks off a South Pass and takes it to mid field but the North can't score it. The South has three fumbles, lost one, and now 1 interception.

NORTH: Cody's Matt Frost kicks a 41 yard field goal after a bad punt by the South. 17-6 North with 4:10 left in the half.

SOUTH: A 40 yard reverse by Drew Martinez (Green River) and a North pass interference penalty sets up a 3 yard TD run by Michael Davis (Central) 2-point try was NO GOOD. North still leads 17 to 12 with :52 seconds left in the 2nd.

3rd Quarter:

SOUTH: Marches 65 yards on the opening possesion of the second half. Dustin Worthington (Glenrock) scores on a 4 yard TD run. Pierre Etchemendy (Douglas) added the 2pt conversion run. South 20 North 17, 10:00 mins left in the third.

NORTH: Responds with a 64 yard drive of their own. Austin Woodward (Sheridan) hooks up with Taylor Villegas (Natrona) for a 26 yard TD pass. Frost (Cody) adds the PAT and the North leads 24 to 20 with 6:22 left in the third.

4th Quarter:

SOUTH: Pierre Etchemendy (Douglas) scores from 1 yard out. That was right after Padilla (Rock Springs) hooked up with Kyle Grott (Central) for a 36 yard pickup. PAT was NO GOOD. South 26 North 24, 14:43 left in the game.

Guernsey’s Kevin Boomhower picked off a pass and took it to the 18 yard line. The South got down to the 2 yard line, but a sack took them back and they turned it over on downs.
The North then mounted a drive.

NORTH: Matt Frost kicks a 35 yard field goal and the North leads 27 to 26 with :36 seconds to play in the game.

The South couldn't get anything done in the final seconds and fall by one. A hook and ladder was ruled an illegal forward pass.

T. J. Claunch, Executive Director of the Wyoming Shrine Bowl announced today that a check in the amount of $30,000 was presented to the Shriners Hospital in Salt Lake City, UT. This check represents the proceeds of the Shrine Bowl all star football game which was held in Casper on June 13, 2009. Claunch and the Shrine Bowl Board Of Directors wish to thank everyone who helped make this years Shrine Bowl week such a huge success even though the game had to be cut short due to a very large and dangerous electrical storm that hit the Casper area during the second quarter of the game. This is the first time a Shrine Bowl game had to be cut short due to any circumstances but as it turned out was the correct thing to do.

The player profiles for the 2009 Shrine Bowl have been added to the Directory, found under the game history drop-down list. There may be an omission or a mistake or two -- I'm checking that now, but if you notice anything before I do, please let us know. There is an asterisk on most of the profiles -- this is where a bio, links to personal sites and that type of information may be added. Game called in the second quarter due to severe weather.

As ominous clouds circled overhead, lightning peppered the sky as the players were being introduced to the crowd. Still, the Shrine Bowl played on.

The North would get the kick off and go 3 and out. The South took the ball and drove deep into the North territory. Cory Anthos of Evanston broke off a big run to help set up a Bryce Ramsey (Central) field goal with 7:47 left in the first period.

The teams traded posessions and managed a short weather delay until a South fumble gave the North their best field position of the short ball game.

Matt Gregory of Newcastle recovered the miscue with 5:30 left in the period. Lovell's Grant Geiser ran a QB keeper 17 yards to set up a Cody's Glen Clinton for a 30 yard field goal with 22.6 left in the period.

The teams played just over four minutes in the second period with Casper Police pulled the plug and called the game and cleared the stands.

The 2009 Shrine Bowl game will be played in Casper at the Natrona County High School stadium on June 13, starting at 7 PM.

The staffs will now start the process of picking the players for their respective teams.

The Shrine Bowl Of Wyoming's Board Of Directors is attempting to organize a past participants group (coaches, players, trainers, and managers) and we need your help. We are asking that any past participants please email their name, current address, current phone or cell phone number, email address, school they attended, and the year they participated in the Shrine Bowl to us. It will be a great help in getting this started. If you know of any other past participants and have the information for them we would like to have you send it to us or contacet them and have them send it to us. On this web page under the heading "Game History" and the drop down for "Directory" we will list this information as we add the different years teams to the web page.

In doing this we hope to help past participants renew old friendships and get the group started. If there are any of you out there that are really interested in getting involved with this project and would like to assist in making it successful we would appreciate hearing from you.

T. J. Claunch announced today that the head coaches for the 2009 annual Shrine Bowl all star football game have been selected. The Shrine Bowl head coaches are selected in a nomination and election process by the Wyoming high school's head football coaches. Selected to head the north team is Chris Williams of Cody and the south team will be headed up by Mark Bullington of Southeast. The 2009 game is scheduled to be played in Casper on June 13, 2009 with kickoff set for 7 PM at the Natrona County High School stadium.

These two head coaches will now assemble their staff's which will have five assistants and the two staffs will then select the players for the game.

The Board Of Directors would like to thank everyone who was a part of making this years game another success.

The annual all star game is scheduled for June 13, 2009 in Casper and will be played at the Natrona County High School stadium with
kickoff slated for 7 PM.

Sounds like the 35th Annual Shrine Bowl was a dandy! Because I had been scheduled well in advance to entertain at a wedding, I couldn't make it to Casper for the big game and festivities. I'll make sure I have the date open for next year.

There's a new audio page in the "Multi-Media" drop-down listings that contains a pair of interviews with head coaches, Michael McGuire and Shawn Rogers. It was a pleasure to interview the coaches, and an honor to have the experience of the visit to the Shriner's Hospital in Salt Lake City.

Outside of player bios that can be submitted at anytime (and a few profiles for coaches, trainers, managers, etc.) the directory is complete for 2008. Check it out under the drop-down list under game history.

I took some shots of both teams practicing in Evanston today, although they're not too good, as they are too far away, especially the South, (although it will give you an overview as to where the teams are). The South is practicing at Red Devil field, while the North is utilizing the the EHS Practice Field. I also shot some video of both from closer range that I will try to add as time allows.

Excited to board the bus with the players, coaches and Shrine Bowl staff for the Shriner's Hospital visit tomorrow and should have a few shots to post. TJ will take the video I will shoot back to Casper to be edited and compiled for viewing at Friday night's banquet.

We will have some videos posted under multi-media in the near future. Most will involve the hospital visits. We could sure use your pictures of anything related to the Shrine Bowl, as we have room to post a ton of 'em.

As I continue to add to the directory, (1979, 2007 & 2008 now posted) I'd really like to include more information, or you can by either posting to the directory yourself or emailing the information to me. Check it out and look at the listings for Brad Baumberger or Lance Deal from '79 to see what is possible. Feel free to include a bio, pics, (maybe one from now and one from "then") and links to websites, (personal, school or team).

It's more than a "Where Are The Now" because it will be a very positive look at the success in life that many who played in the Shrine Bowl enjoyed or are now enjoying, and serves to inspire future athletes, cheerleaders, trainers, managers and coaches to be a part of the rich history that is the Wyoming Shrine Bowl.

We would like to showcase a profile for anyone who has ever participated in the Wyoming Shrine Bowl, so again feel free add your own, including pictures. One final thing in this rambling post, under the category "other" is where we distinguish what role an individual is categorized, Coach, Manager, Official, Trainer, etc. For Players, it's just that, but I'd much rather have that listed by position, Quarterback, Linebacker, etc., but often times the rosters didn't display that information. Jersey numbers worn can help in that determination, but I don't want to try and guess and be wrong. I also realize some may not have played their high school position in the Shrine Bowl. My old friend Brad Baumberger I'm sure played QB, for instance, but his Shrine Bowl jersey number reflects that of a Tight End!

I wasn't selected to the Shrine Bowl, but I've had a nephew play and my brother was fortunate to be assistant coach twice and head coach in 2007... Wyoming seems to get little respect in the high school football community, perhaps now Wyoming athletes will get more recognition. Great job!
